sottero and midgley, along with sister brand, rebecca ingram, started in sydney, australia twenty-five years ago! founder, lesley margaret, assumed her grandmother’s name, maggie sottero, and the line was born! it truly is a family business with lesley’s daughter, kelly midgley, following in her mother’s footsteps as the head of sottero and midgley + rebecca ingram.

the brand stands for love and love for all! they are committed to inclusion, giving back to the community and lowering their ecological footprint! they believe that each bride deserves to be seen and celebrated!

their commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equality is at the heart of the brand. they believe that “when everyone is represented, we gain fresh perspectives and insights that can lead to innovation and progress”. when posting on social media, it is important for them to always include people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, plus size models, models with disabilities, and models of all ages. it is their mission to represent all brides!

giving back to the community is also a core belief for sottero and midgley + rebecca ingram! they believe that volunteer efforts and give back initiatives give a path toward a brighter, more prosperous future. at the end of every year, a portion of their proceeds goes to huntsman cancer institute for cancer research.

the brand also just launched their sustainability initiative. they are using more recycled fabrics for their gowns to help cut down on fabric waste, are working on a zero waste policy, and are committed to recycling everything they possibly can! they have also teamed up with one tree planted so that every time a bride buys a sottero and midgley or rebecca ingram gown, they will plant a tree to help offset emissions!
