how to know rare is the right shop for you
you’re engaged, you’ve got your date and venue set + now you’re on to the most important part (in our humble, slightly biased, opinion): finding your dress! choosing where to shop can get overwhelming and with so many options out there it can be hard to know where to start. we want to help you choose the perfect place for you to find your perfect dress!
rare is an exclusively plus size bridal shop! we offer over 200 dresses to try on starting at a bridal size 18 and going up to a size 36. on top of that, most of our designers have an unlimited size chart to accommodate any bride. making sure our brides can actually try on a dress + not just hold it up to them in front of a mirror and imagine what it would look like in their size is very important to us! there is no reason that a size 28 can’t have the same amazing shopping experience as a size 8!
wedding dress sizing runs completely different than your regular clothing, so it can be hard to know where you would fall on a designer's size chart. a good rule of thumb to keep in mind is that you will likely wear 2-4 sizes higher than you normally wear in your everyday clothes. so if you normally wear a size 12 you could end up being a size 16/18 in bridal. trust us, we know how discouraging this can be, but that is why we emphasize so much that the number on the tag does NOT determine your worth! as long as you love the dress and it fits, that’s all that matters!

we also understand that the fashion industry has not always been kind to plus size people. in recent years things have started to change, but we know there is still a long way to go. this is why we’ve made sure to carry a wide variety of styles. gone are the days of plus size brides only being allowed to wear the same 5 outdated dresses. we want to make sure we have dresses that show off your curves. we don’t shy away from deep v-necks, side cutouts, and fitted gowns. we also understand that not all plus size brides want to show off their curves + we’ve made sure to have dresses that cover a little more but are still incredibly flattering. if you want to wear the latest bridal trends or want to stay classic, we’ve got you covered!
